Smart Supply Chains
Across history trade has been a key catalyst for the advancement of civilization and humankind. Grain, olive oil, spices, tea, copper and textiles to name a few, were key elements of trade and their availability and continuous flow from the farmer to the trader to the individual was vital for survival and prosperity.
From domesticating pack animals and improving shipping “technologies” the ability to carry more goods for longer distances increased. From the early civilizations, political power understood the value of trade and engaged with farmers (for goods), coin makers (for money) and traders and merchants (for the flow of goods and money) to maintain control, expand trade and gain more influence.
